Once, when they were young, the two attempted to be extremely honest with one another, resulting in a feud that resulted in massive destruction of public property and their family being ashamed. However, she and Jane were quite close, developing a "sisters only" language with one another and being so in sync that they are capable of finishing one another's sentences and dominating guessing games such as Charades.ĭespite her and Jane's closeness, their relationship also involves a high degree of dishonesty as a means of sparing one another's feelings. Her middle sister, Jane, was often frustrated with Alex for constantly showing her up and taking attention away from her. This strategy keeps its audience laughing for days as I find myself watching this particular hipster clip a little too frequently as I too find hipster fascinating.Alex is a ditzy blonde girl, raised in the city of Chicago. Happy Endings does a great job on picking up up-to-date, current topics that people find interesting, incorporating them into an episode, and then making fun at them. Her relationship with these guys is usually short-lived and simply enhances the other main conflicts of the episode. Penny’s role of the single girl constantly searching for the perfect man makes a great C plot. Just in season one, Penny dates a handsome Italian guy, a hipster, tries to get back together with the lead singer of a band, and pretends to be engaged to someone. The boys are always unique and hysterical in their own way, adding humor and unpredictability to episodes.
Penny constantly is on the hunt for men, and seems to always have a new one almost every episode. This conflict emphasizes Penny’s problem with always conforming to the ways of whatever boy she is with at the time. Once Penny learns how difficult being a hipster is, she quickly decides that it is not for her, and neither is this new hipster boy of hers either. Max carefully outlines the most essential rules of being a hipster: Max is attempting to teach Penny how to be a hipster because she is trying to fit in with her new hipster boyfriend and his hipster friends. Happy Endings also does a great job of recognizing people’s recent fascination with hipsters and plays off of that idea in Season 1 Episode 7, “Dave of the Dead.” The Red and Black, along with many other blogs, magazines, and newspapers recently wrote an article about the unusual world of hipsters. Hipster’s unusual personalities, eccentric taste in music, and especially their interesting fashion sense makes outsiders particularly interested in this group.
Hipsters are naturally becoming a more popular topic of conversation today, as people want to know more about this unique and alternative group of people. A hipster: a person who is unusually aware of and interested in new and unconventional patterns.
